Lando Calrissian’s best not-quite-human pal didn’t make the cut in Star Wars: Battlefront II. Sad!
The upcoming Star Wars shooter’s alpha test yielded some juicy details, thanks to one code-savvy fan. This may not be representative of what’s in the final game, but Reddit’s uninspired_zebra claims to have discovered a list of playable heroes and their abilities in the alpha files.
Lobot is not among them.
The list includes a bunch of returning favorites along with an assortment of new additions. It’s probably not complete — Finn, for example, is known to be part of a free post-release add-on that also includes Captain Phasma, who is listed — so there’s still hope for Lobot.
Here’s the list:
Boba Fett
Han Solo
Princess Leia
Luke Skywalker
Bossk
Chewbacca
Darth Vader
Emperor Palpatine
General Grievous
Iden Versio
Kylo Ren
Lando Calrissian
Darth Maul
Captain Phasma
Rey
Yoda
If you’re not familiar with the sum total of Star Wars lore, this list features characters from all three trilogies. The least familiar name to most is probably Iden Versio; she’s the hero of Battlefront II‘s story mode, brought to life by The League star Janina Gavankar.
The same Reddit poster also found a rundown of the weapons and abilities for many of these characters. You can find that list right here.
Just bear in mind: Battlefront II isn’t out until Nov. 17, so even if this list is accurate — which isn’t a sure thing, to be clear — it’s also still subject to change.
If you’re still reading, I bet you’ve got one question in your head: why Lobot?
Lando’s android buddy from Cloud City has quite the unexpected origin story in the new canon, as documented in Marvel’s Lando comics. No spoilers here, though the comics are great — and, of course, that information also exists on the internet.
Even if we factor out those comics, Lobot is still the best. His name is just the sort of delightfully dumb wordplay that could only hail from the Original Trilogy. And his headset get-up is just perfect. What do you think he bobs his head to all day at work? My money’s on Lorde.
Lobot runs deep, you see. He’s got layers. He’s a badass, super-strong robotman who hangs out with Lando and somehow, beneath all the circuitry, understands the difference between right and wrong.
All of which is to say: there is still hope for Lobot.
