Never let it be said that the Eve Online scene — players and creators alike — has no sense of humor.
One player in particular was unhappy with… something in Eve, so they responded the way any level-headed person should: they sent Eve developer CCP Games a package full of dicks. Not real ones, mind you; gummi dicks, confetti dicks… that sort of thing.
Unfortunately for the dissatisfied fan, CCP’s home country of Iceland has certain rules on imports. It’s a tax thing: imported products need to ship with an invoice, which customs looks at so taxes can be levied before the package is delivered.
When there’s no invoice to be found, customs reaches out to the package recipient for one. If that, too, yields no results — because, say, the recipient doesn’t know they’re getting a package — customs can seek authorization to open the package and itemize its contents.
You can probably see where this is going.
Brenton “CCP Larrakin” Hooper was the intended recipient for this box of dick-related items. He shared his tale on Eve‘s subreddit — explaining the Icelandic import tax process described above — and shared a look at the letter he received about his package of “packages.”
Hello, Your shipment has been opened and it did not contain an invoice. We need to have an invoice or some kind of receipt that confirms the value of the content to get the shipment cleared through customs. The shipment contains: Two Candy gummy bags in the shape of penises, glitter, penis shaped confetti and a coupon that says “Eat a bag of dicks”. Please send us the invoice (link removed) here. Best regards, Tollmiðlun Póstsins
This whole situation is magical. Never change, Eve Online fans. I may never fully grasp your love for the “spreadsheets in space” that is playing Eve, but I admire your commitment to this universe and your playful interactions with the talented CCP team.
This is expert-level trolling gone awry, and the story is that much funnier as a result.
